Opera Carolina is one of Charlotte, North Carolina’s major cultural assets and a leading regional opera company. Opera Carolina offers a creative schedule of programs and activities—ranging from main stage productions to innovative education and community programs that make opera more accessible to the public. TWG was retained to work with the board and its general director to map out a growth strategy and conduct a campaign readiness study. The final report laid out a creative vision for the opera company, aimed at strengthening operating revenues, attracting resources for program development and innovation, and achieving long term sustainability with a strong endowment. TWG recommended that Opera Carolina embark on a comprehensive five-year, $16 million fundraising campaign that would attract both endowment and general operating funds. TWG also provided the organization with a detailed plan for building its fundraising and constituent relations capacities, focusing on staffing, information technology, prospect identification and audience development.
