Description

Located in Staten Island, New York, Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden is one of the largest, ongoing adaptive reuse projects in America. Today, across its 83-acre park-like campus, Snug Harbor consists of 26 historic buildings, nine botanical gardens, a two-acre urban farm, and 10 acres of wetlands. TWG was retained by the board and executive director to develop a strategic plan for Snug Harbor. Following a comprehensive and inclusive process, the final report called for Snug Harbor to reduce its emphasis on sponsoring its own programming and instead concentrate its efforts on overall management of the site and collaboration among constituents. The plan also outlined a mission, vision, and mandate for this new and expanded role.
