Description
The Social Impact Exchange is a nonprofit intermediary created to advance a revolutionary idea—using private equity-style strategies to scale nonprofit organizations that have an effective, evidence–based solution to a significant social problem. Working with the organization’s president and leadership team, TWG developed a business plan that called for groups of foundations and philanthropists to join sector-specific working groups focused on education, health, and poverty. Members of each working group were asked to make up-front financial commitments that would enable leading–edge nonprofits to bring their proven ideas to scale and then to “syndicate” the “deal” to other philanthropic investors. TWG also developed a prospectus that presented the case for the start-up capital and resources needed to launch Social Impact Exchange itself. TWG then managed the ongoing relationship–building strategy with many of the largest foundations, corporations and private philanthropists in the country.
